Global Teams' members serve in unique roles in isolated and often difficult or dangerous situations around the world. Therefore, member care is a high priority for Global Teams. Global Teams is committed to allocating resources and personnel for member care and to creating strategies and structures that support our members’ success in seeing the heart of Christ in the skin of every culture.
Member Care is a team effort, and Global Teams recognizes the following care providers for each missionary:
God
As the Good Shepherd, He is ultimately responsible for the care of His children (Psalm 23).
Individuals themselves
As stewards of their minds, hearts, souls, and strength, they take responsibility for their own personal, spiritual, and physical well being (Colossians 3, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Extended family members may also be a source of care.
Peers
Global Teams' members have a responsibility to care for, encourage, and build up one another (2 Corinthians 1:3-7, Romans 12:3-5, Ephesians 4:1-13, 1 Thessalonians 5:11,1 Peter 5:2).
Sending churches
As the primary sending body, sponsoring congregations share in the responsibility for the care of missionaries they send (Acts 13:1-3, 1 Timothy 5:17-18, Hebrews 10:25).
The Global Teams Organization
In partnership with sponsoring congregations, Global Teams will ensure that its leaders, member care facilitators, intercessors, staff, and policies encourage health and growth for its members.
Global Teams provides member care with the conviction that our most important God-given resource as an organization is our people, and that their development and overall well being are necessary to the effective fulfillment “to see the heart of Christ in the skin of every culture.” In the Apostle Paul’s words, the goal of member care is "...to prepare God’s people for the works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up." (Ephesians 4:12).
