Missionary Care

Global Teams' missionaries serve in unique rolls in often isolated and many times difficult or dangerous places around the world. To be sure these missionaries are properly cared for, Missionary Care is a high priority for Global Teams and we are committed to creating strategies and structures that support our missionaries' success in seeing the heart of Christ in the skin of every culture.

Missionary Care is a team effort, and Global Teams recognizes many care providers for each missionary:

God:
As the Good Shepherd, God is ultimately responsible for the care of His children. (Psalm 23)

The missionaries themselves:
As stewards of their minds, hearts, souls, and strength, they missionaries take responsibility for their own personal, spiritual, and physical well being. (Colossians 3, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20) Extended family members may also be a source of care.

Peers:
Global Teams' missionaries have a responsibility to care for, encourage, and to build one another up. (2 Corinthians 1:3-7, Romans 12:3-5, Ephesians 4:1-13, 1 Thessalonians 5:11, 1 Peter 5:2)

Sending Churches:
As a sending body, sponsoring congregations share in the responsibility for the care of the missionaries that go out from their church family. (Acts 13:1-3, 1 Timothy 5:17-18, Hebrews 10:25.

Global Teams:
In partnership with sending congregations, Global Teams insures that its leaders, missionary care providers, intercessors, staff and policies encourage health and growth for its missionaries.

Global Teams provides missionary care with the conviction that our most important God given resource as an organization is our people, and that their development and overall well being are necessary to the effective fulfillment "to see the heart of Christ in the skin of every culture." In the apostle Paul's words, the goal of missionary care is ".....to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up." (Ephesians 4:12)
