Aaron
He grew up in North Carolina and came to faith in Christ while skipping school one day. It was in college that he became a disciple of Christ and was mentored and trained up through the ministry of InterVarsity. During the 1990 Urbana mission conference he heard a statistic of the low ratio of Dr.’s to people in Africa and felt a gentle tapping of the Lord to go in that direction. After a slow start and failing chemistry, Aaron is now a flourishing and trained family physician. He has served in many leadership and support roles and gone on many missions trips with a passion to see the Kingdom manifested on earth. Currently, he is headed to Liverpool, England to add to the years of classroom training with a diploma in tropical medicine. Upon completion, he will serve in Rugarama hospital in Kabale, Uganda, as well as be a part of mobilizing Ugandan missionaries. He was appointed to serve with Global Teams in 2008.
Wendy
She grew up in Texas and after a slew of trying various ways to contentment and happiness, she came upon Jesus who bid her to come follow Him. That was in 1993 when she became a disciple of Christ, was baptized somewhere in the Hill Country and went to Urbana ’93 where she knew she was called to serve the Lord overseas. She has since been a part of Bible studies from Texas to North Carolina, gone on several short term missions trips (one of which she met Aaron) and is passionate about prayer, transformation through Christ alone and recovering from legalism. She is currently in full time household management and rearing three wonderful strong willed children. She also was appointed to serve with Global Teams in 2008 and will be a part of mobilizing Ugandan missionaries and anything else on the Lord’s agenda. One neat side note is that Wendy’s college roommate was crucial in leading her to faith in Christ and now they will be serving together in Uganda as teammates!
Micah
He was born in Greenville, North Carolina during his dad’s time in medical school. He is passionate about the Lord, his stuffed dog, Jesse and anything Star Wars. He is curious, an incredible Lego engineer and a wonderful big brother with a good sense of humor. He just turned eight and is excited about serving the Lord overseas. Famous quote upon returning from a short term missions trip to Ecuador and processing the Jim Elliot story and receiving a necklace made by the Waorani tribe… “I am a brave, scared warrior.”
Emma Shae
She was born in Waco, Texas during her dad’s training in residency. She is passionate about truth, Jesus, prayer and all things beautiful and purple. She loves organizing parties with Polly Pockets or other dolls, playing with friends and swimming! She is a great big and little sister and loves to ask, “Do you know the way to Africa? Is it a long time to get there? Do they know we are coming?” She is five and looking forward to starting kindergarten in Liverpool, England!
Mallory
She was born in Waco, Texas, during the graduation month from her dad’s residency program. She is passionate about Jesus, being heard and serving others. She loves to play dress up, all things pink and teddy bears. She was quiet for her first year of life, but has been at high volume ever since with joy! She once held up a dolphin in the bathtub and asked, “Can I bring this to Africa?” She is three and was born ready for anything!
