Dear Global Teams Partner,
We are a global team of many nations bringing the Good News of the Kingdom to dark places - to peoples with least access to the life-saving news of Jesus Christ. Naturally, this puts many of our field partners in harm's way. Yet, to date we have not heard of a single one of our members who have contracted COVID-19, though there have been some deaths in their communities. While that may change, we are grateful for the Lord's protection and appreciate your continued prayers.
In each of the countries in which we serve, we are adhering to the local safety protocols which are largely the same throughout the world. As a result, some of our field partners have chosen to return to their sending locations, but most of them have stayed in place and restricted their movements. We have had to cancel all of our international trips and training through June, though we are considering alternative ways to keep equipping and sending more workers for the harvest. We have new field partners in training and are continuing that training on-line.
Last week our International Leadership Team met via Skype at our usual time and asked, "What opportunities might the current situation present for the Lord to work?" And there are many: a renewed commitment to prayer in the solitude, reaching out to the most vulnerable near to us in practical ways, making use of social media to get out messages of hope and security in God's love, encouraging families to become church in new ways, and living in a spirit of generosity.
There is not a lot of good news these days. Many are asking the question in Psalm 4, "Who can show us any good?" David knew the answer! "Lord, lift up the light of your countenance upon us. You have given us greater joy than those who have abundant harvests of grain and new wine. In peace, I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O LORD, will keep me safe."  The presence of God among His people is comfort indeed. For us - and for the people around us.
We know that God will give opportunities for ministry with our neighbors next to us and with our neighbors around the world, so we look forward to hearing your stories as you step through these open doors.
In the days ahead, we will update you on the situation with Global Teams members and how we are responding to the opportunities before us. Thank you for praying. Thank you for giving. Thank you for being a part of the team. May the Lord lift up His countenance upon us.
By His grace, for His glory,
Curtis Chanda
